Nasarawa kidnappers arrest Rukubi operation sees eight suspects detained as police recover AK-47 rifles and motorcycles after community attack

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and violent crime following the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi community, Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa kidnappers arrest Rukubi operation was launched after a distress call in the early hours of Wednesday, following an armed attack on residents the previous night.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, the attackers stormed the community, firing sporadic gunshots and creating panic before abducting two villagers from their homes.

Security operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, working alongside other security agencies, vigilante groups and local youths, immediately mobilised to the area and began an intensive manhunt.

The operation led to the arrest of eight suspects allegedly linked to the attack. They were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all reportedly from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

During the raid, officers recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used in the operation.

Authorities also confirmed that one of the suspects sustained serious injuries during the operation and later died while receiving treatment at a medical facility.

Reacting to the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their swift response, professionalism and coordination.

He described the success as evidence of effective intelligence-driven policing and strong collaboration between security agencies and local stakeholders.

“The success recorded in this operation is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and the strong collaboration among security agencies and community stakeholders in tackling violent crimes,” the Force spokesman said.

The police also praised the role of vigilante groups and residents, noting that community support was instrumental to the success of the operation.
