FIFA signs MoU with Qatar Stars League and QFA to improve club management, education, and player well-being across QSL first- and second-division clubs

Doha, Qatar FIFA has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Stars League (QSL) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) to enhance professional club management and administration across Qatar’s first- and second-division clubs.

The agreement was signed last week on Qatar’s National Day, on the sidelines of the Arab Cup final, by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Jassim bin Rashid AlBuainain, President of the QSL and QFA.

This latest MoU builds on an initial 2022 agreement between FIFA and the Qatar FA.

Following Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup, the Gulf state has welcomed multiple major tournaments, including the AFC Asian Cup in 2024, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the Arab Cup, and the expanded FIFA U17 World Cup.

These events have strengthened Qatar’s reputation as a global hub for football management and operational expertise.

Infantino said the renewed partnership will focus on education, knowledge exchange, and player well-being.

“Through education programmes, knowledge exchange and enhanced support for player well-being, we are working together to help talented individuals and ambitious clubs thrive in a more competitive and sustainable global football ecosystem,” he said.

The collaboration will prioritise the Educational Programmes Project, providing bespoke support for club managers and agents, while implementing mental health and overall well-being initiatives for players.

Jassim bin Rashid AlBuainain described the MoU as a strategic step that reflects the strong cooperation between FIFA and QSL.

“This partnership covers several areas, including the strategic development of football across its technical and administrative aspects, as well as leveraging the region’s passion for the game to promote peace and highlight the noble values of football worldwide,” he said.
