Nigeria’s Super Falcons fall to 37th in FIFA women’s ranking but maintain Africa’s top spot, affected by inactivity during the last international break

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have slipped one place in the latest FIFA women’s world ranking released on Thursday, moving from 36th to 37th position.

FIFA attributed the drop to the team’s inactivity during the last international break, as the Super Falcons did not participate in any friendly or competitive matches.

Teams that played during the same period gained or lost points, while Nigeria’s total remained unchanged, causing the slight fall.

Despite the setback, the Super Falcons retain their position as Africa’s number one women’s football team, demonstrating sustained strength and consistency on the continent.

South Africa, Ghana, Zambia and Morocco remain the next highest-ranked African nations, reflecting growing competition in African women’s football.

Globally, Spain continue to hold the top position in the women’s ranking, followed by the United States, Germany, England and Sweden in the top five.

The Super Falcons are expected to aim for an improved ranking when they return to action in forthcoming international fixtures, as Nigerian fans anticipate strong performances from the record African champions.
