Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage shares how her pregnancy impacted her vocal range, forcing her to alter song keys while recording her ‘R.E.D’ album

Famous Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage has revealed how pregnancy affected her voice range, a challenge she faced while recording her album R.E.D.

She made this known during a discussion about her pregnancy experience as a musician on Afrobeats Intelligence.

Savage explained that her struggles with vocal range necessitated changing some of the song keys on the album.

“I was pregnant when I recorded ‘R.E.D’,” she recounted. “I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album.”

I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes.

Savage also shared a heartwarming anecdote about her time at Mavin Records, where she was the first artist to have a baby.

“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin, so whenever they notice my energy is going down, Jazzy will tell them to get me my cravings, which are eggs and bread,” she fondly recalled.

DAILY POST reports that the songstress joined Don Jazzy’s label, Mavin Records, in 2012 and later exited to join Universal Music Group in 2019.
