SWAN commends the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 performance, highlighting unbeaten run and urging focus for upcoming matches

SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, speaking via a statement from the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, expressed confidence that Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National Team is capable of winning the tournament.

“The Super Eagles are now the attraction of all football fans from across Africa and globally. From where I watched the Round of 16 match against Mozambique, fans from other countries were cheering Nigeria loudly due to the purposeful football display on the pitch,” Benjamin said.

He praised the team for remaining unbeaten since the start of the competition in December, describing it as a commendable achievement.

However, Benjamin urged the team to re-assess, retool, and refocus for the more challenging quarter-final stages.

He called for calm, psychological resilience, and strategic preparation to overcome stronger opponents.

Benjamin also highlighted the role of Nigerian sports journalists covering the tournament, noting that more than 100 members of the press are in Morocco, ensuring that Nigeria’s image is well projected.

Addressing the incident between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during the Mozambique game, he urged stakeholders and the sporting media to continue supporting the team while highlighting areas that project Nigeria positively.

“Let us remember that as the Super Eagles win and progress, it is a triumph for all Nigerians and indeed the country,” he added.
