President Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu salute Nigerian fathers for their integrity, sacrifice and leadership in homes and nation-building on Father’s Day

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating Father’s Day, saluting fathers across the nation and in the diaspora for their sacrifices and moral leadership.

In a message posted on his verified X account, the President described fathers as the “first institution of leadership,” saying that the strength of Nigeria as a nation rests on the integrity and resilience of men who lead with honour in their homes.

“Our country is only as strong as the men who lead with integrity within their families. To be a father is to carry the weight of responsibility with quiet strength,” Tinubu wrote.

He praised the quiet sacrifices and tireless contributions of fathers, acknowledging their roles as mentors, protectors, and nation-builders.

In a deeply personal note, the President—himself a father and grandfather—referred to fatherhood as “the most sacred” of titles.

To be a father is to carry the weight of responsibility with quiet strength.

“Today, we honour our first teachers, silent defenders, and tireless nation-builders…our fathers,” he said, noting that fatherhood transcends biological ties to include men who guide, support, and lead within communities and public life.

Thanking Nigerian fathers for shaping the nation’s moral character, Tinubu concluded, “Your everyday labours shape the character of our country and the future of our children.”

Echoing her husband’s sentiments, First Lady Remi Tinubu commended men who step into fatherhood through mentorship, guardianship and leadership.

She paid tribute to those who dedicate themselves to raising children who are “confident, responsible, and compassionate.”

“Let us continue to give men the support and enabling environment to function effectively as fathers. When fathers are involved, families grow stronger, and so does the nation,” she said.

She offered prayers for strength, peace, and fulfilment for all fathers across the country, recognising the heavy responsibilities they bear and the positive impact of their devotion on the broader society.
