Oyo Fire Outbreak Damage Incident involved an industrial blaze at Km 110, Iyaganku area of Ibadan, where an aluminium company was engulfed by fire on Thursday, while another incident affected a residential building in Ogbomoso a day earlier.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed both incidents, stating that firefighters were able to bring the situation under control after swift intervention.

He explained that the Ibadan fire started in an office space with an adjoining warehouse, adding that preliminary findings linked the outbreak to electrical sparks from an unattended appliance which ignited nearby combustible materials.

In the Ogbomoso incident, Akinwande noted that the fire affected the first room on the right side of an old residential building, leading to significant property damage before it was contained.

No fatalities were reported in both incidents, though losses of property and equipment were described as substantial.

Fire officials have since urged residents and business owners to adopt stricter electrical safety measures to prevent similar occurrences, particularly avoiding leaving powered appliances unattended.

The incidents add to growing concerns over fire safety awareness in the state, especially in densely populated and industrial areas.
