Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the appointments on Thursday.

Oseni, who began his service as a NERC Commissioner in January 2017 and later became Vice Chairman, officially assumed the chairmanship on 1 December 2025.

His tenure will last until the completion of the commission’s statutory ten-year term under the Electricity Act, 2023.

The board’s vice chairman is Yusuf Ali, first appointed Commissioner in February 2022, whose vice chairmanship also commenced on 1 December 2025 and will remain until the completion of his first term.

Other board members include Nathan Shatti and Dafe Akpeneye, both serving their second terms as commissioners after initial appointments in January 2017.

Aisha Bello, also in her second term, first joined the commission in December 2020, while Chidi Ike returns for a second stint following his initial appointment in February 2022.

Fouad Animashaun joins the board for his first term, bringing experience as an energy economist and former Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

President Tinubu urged the reconstituted board to deepen and consolidate the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s power sector, stressing strict adherence to both the letter and spirit of the Electricity Act, 2023.
