The Imo State Police Command has arrested four men for possession and distribution of banned fireworks and pyrotechnics in Owerri metropolis.

The suspects 29-year-old Victor Amadi, 31-year-old Moses Okoro, 28-year-old Ebuka Onye, and 23-year-old Isaac Amadi were apprehended during intelligence-led raids at multiple locations across the city.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye disclosed that the operation led to the seizure of large quantities of prohibited fireworks, knockouts, bangers, and other explosive devices.

He reiterated that anyone found in possession or dealing in such items would be arrested and prosecuted under state law.

Okoye warned residents, parents, and traders to desist from engaging in fireworks-related activities due to the inherent dangers.

He also encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
