Demola Adeleke made politically through my sacrifice, ready to unseat him – Sen. Husain
Senator Husain claims his sacrifice preserved the Adeleke’s political relevance in Osun State and declares his intention to unseat Governor Demola Adeleke in the 2026 election
Former lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District and current All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Osun State, Sen. Mudashiru Oyetunde Husain, has asserted that his unwavering loyalty to the APC was key in preserving the political relevance of the Adeleke family in Osun State.

He is now preparing to challenge the current governor in the upcoming election.
Sen. Husain, who served in the Senate between 2011 and 2015 under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), defeated Senator Isiaka Adeleke to secure the seat.
Recounting the events leading to Adeleke’s return to prominence, Senator Husain said he was compelled by party leaders in 2015 to surrender his senatorial ticket to Isiaka Adeleke, who had just decamped from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after losing the governorship ticket to Senator Iyiola Omisore.
“The party needed Adeleke’s base in Ede to shore up votes for our governorship candidate. Out of loyalty, I gave up my ticket and collapsed my structure for Adeleke and the party at large,” he revealed.
Tragically, Senator Isiaka Adeleke died in 2017, just two years into his term.

In response, APC leaders once again turned to Sen. Husain to contest the bye-election and fill the vacant Senate seat; a testament to his enduring relevance and trust within the party.
But the political tides shifted unexpectedly.
According to Senator Husain, a faction within the APC supported Demola Adeleke, younger brother of the late Isiaka, to succeed him.
This move ultimately led Demola Adeleke to defect back to the PDP, where he secured the party’s ticket and continued the family’s political trajectory, eventually becoming governor.
“It was a painful betrayal,” Sen. Husain noted. “But I stayed with the party. If not for me, the image and political relevance of the Adeleke political dynasty would have been dead.”
Now, with Osun State’s 2026 gubernatorial race on the horizon, Senator Husain has formally declared his intention to run, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead.
“I have the capacity and experience to lead Osun State. I’m ready to unseat Demola Adeleke and restore purposeful governance under the APC,” he stated.
As the APC gears up for its primaries, Husain is widely seen as a top contender, drawing on his legislative experience and reputation for party loyalty.
The contest promises to be a defining moment in Osun’s political history.
A group, the Imo First Group (IFG) has described the purported Magistrate court order to arrest Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, over alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery, as a ruse and fake news
The group stated this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.
IFG challenged those peddling the fake news to make the court order public.
The statement reads ” The fabricated and concocted story was first posted on social media by Hon. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, a media aide to Governor Hope Uzodimma, before it was picked up by other media outfits, including Arise TV.
According to the statement, those behind the report claimed that a Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja issued a Bench Warrant dated September 9, 2026, following a petition written by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Barr. Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, to the Police and DSS on October 8, 2026, over alleged presentation of fake APC primary results.
The Group debunked the existence of any such order.
“We want to state categorically and unequivocally that no jSenior Magistrate ordered or issued any bench warrant for the arrest of Araraume”
IFG however challenged anyone in possession of the purported court order to publish it.
“If you claim to have a court order present same for the public to see,
“This fabricated bench warrant contain in the report is filled with inconsistencies, the bench warrant was dated September 9, 2026, while the REC’s petition that supposedly triggered it was dated October 8, 2026, with case number CR/M/084/2026.
The statement further stated that the purveyors and harbinger of the fake news tried to trick the magistrate via exparte order but was rebuked
“The magistrate bluntly refused to grant their exparte and threatened to arrest them, yet they carried their falsehood about. What’s the problem of occupants of office that never won free and fair elections and tried to destroy reputable Imo sons that have won elections. We challenge anyone in this macabre surugede dance to show the court order or warrant of arrest. It’s preposterous to blackmail decent Imo sons on the altar of dirty politics.”
