While discussing Africa’s burgeoning influence on the global entertainment scene, Davido did not hold back in his assessment of the continent’s leadership.

During the interview, Davido highlighted the significant role of African music, art, and fashion in fostering unity across the continent, despite existing challenges.

He also reflected on his personal journey as an African artist, recalling early experiences of being misunderstood while studying abroad and contrasting it with the current appreciation for African heritage in the diaspora.

Davido emphasized the transformative power of entertainment in reshaping global perceptions of Africa. “Back then we used to be so excited to go to America.

It’s not just music but the whole culture has put Africa on the map. If you go to the Paris Fashion Week, 80% of the models and creative directors are Africans. I’m happy that entertainment switched the narrative about Africa,” he stated.

However, the award-winning artist did not shy away from expressing his critical views on African governance.

“We don’t have the best leaders and we have the worst government but our entertainment is it,” Davido asserted, underscoring a perceived disconnect between the success of the entertainment industry and the performance of African governments.

Davido’s candid remarks are likely to spark discussions among fans and the broader public, given his influential status in the African music scene and his global reach.

His statement draws attention to the complex narrative of a continent rich in culture and talent but facing significant leadership challenges.
