APM Terminals Renews Customs Offices in Positive Upgrade Facilities Apapa project was unveiled during a commissioning ceremony held at the terminal, where stakeholders described the development as a major boost to operational efficiency and service delivery within the port environment.

Kamal Alhraishat, Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa, said the upgraded Customs Office and Customer Service Centre were designed to streamline cargo clearance processes by bringing essential services under one roof.

According to him, the facility represents a modern approach to port operations aimed at reducing delays, improving transparency and enhancing the overall experience for importers, clearing agents and other users of the terminal.

“This new facility has been thoughtfully designed to remove the fragmentation that often characterises cargo clearance processes,” Kamal Alhraishat said.

“By bringing critical services under one roof, we are enabling faster documentation, improving transparency, and ultimately ensuring a more seamless flow of containers through the port.”

He added that the initiative is expected to make cargo processing more predictable and efficient, describing it as a “powerful” step towards modernising operations at the Apapa terminal.

Also speaking at the event, Port Manager of the Lagos Port Complex, Adebowale Lawal Ibrahim, commended APM Terminals for the renovation, noting that it would help improve order, coordination and operational control within the port.

He praised the company for consistently setting high standards in port operations and for prioritising customer experience in its infrastructure investments.

In his remarks, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Customs Area Controller for the Apapa Port Command, welcomed the upgraded facility, stressing that improved working conditions for Customs officers would directly enhance efficiency and service delivery.

He noted that a conducive environment plays a key role in boosting morale and professionalism among officers stationed at the port.

“When officers are given an environment that meets professional standards, it naturally enhances their sense of responsibility and commitment to duty,” Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba said.
