Access Bank Plc has retained its position as the nation’s most valuable brand for the fifth consecutive year, according to the Brand Finance Nigeria 25 2026 report.
The recognition highlights the institution’s continued dominance in the financial sector despite ongoing macroeconomic pressures and market volatility affecting the broader economy.
The report placed the bank’s brand value at N773.2bn, noting a slight year-on-year decline but describing it as part of a deliberate strategic shift focused on long-term expansion and international growth.
Analysts observed that Access Bank has evolved from a domestic market leader into a cross-continental financial institution, leveraging its expanding African footprint to strengthen resilience against local economic fluctuations.
The report further stated that the bank’s strategy prioritises scale and sustainability over short-term profitability, positioning it as a key player in global financial integration.
Access Bank also recorded significant improvement in brand strength, rising to third place nationally on the Brand Strength Index with a score of 88.7 out of 100, alongside an elite AAA brand rating.

Commenting on the report, Managing Director of Brand Finance Nigeria, Babatunde Odumeru, said trust has become a critical driver of business growth in Nigeria’s evolving consumer market.
He noted that brands demonstrating reliability and consistency continue to outperform competitors in both valuation and customer loyalty.
Odumeru also highlighted the dominance of banking and manufacturing sectors in shaping Nigeria’s overall brand equity, attributing their performance to resilience and digital transformation.
He added that the collaboration between these sectors continues to play a central role in strengthening national brand value.
