According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the arrests followed a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout along the Uturu/Isuikwuato area.

The suspects were identified as Jerry Chisom, Tochukwu Ugula, Chinonso Nwankwo, and Kingsley Onyekeba. They are all from communities within Abia and Imo States.

Police said the operation was launched after reports of students and residents being attacked and robbed. “Officers from the Uturu Divisional Headquarters, with help from residents, traced and arrested the suspects,” said DSP Chinaka.

Recovered items include a locally made pistol, a knife, two mobile phones, and a laptop. The police are also pursuing other accomplices who fled during the raid.

In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, urged locals to remain vigilant. “We ask the good people of Abia to continue supporting law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity,” he said.
